You can visit the suggestive sanctuary, nestled in the woods, before setting off on your bike. SANSEPOLCRO-CITY OF CASTELLO (30 KM)
You will leave Sansepolcro behind to cycle through the countryside between Tuscany and Umbria. The only climb of the day is the one, quite steep, which will lead you to the village of Citerna. From here continue towards Città di Castello, making the most of the dirt cycle path that runs along the Tiber river. Dinner and overnight stay in a structure in Città di Castello
3rd day
CITY OF CASTELLO-PIETRALUNGA (30 KM)
One of the most demanding stages of the entire Northern route, with two climbs to overcome. The first is long and regular, immersed in the woods, which alternating dirt and asphalt will lead you to Pieve de’ Saddi. The second is shorter, but steep, just before reaching Pietralunga, a small village surrounded by greenery, ideal for relaxing and resting. Dinner and overnight stay in a structure in Pietralunga

PIETRALUNGA-GUBBIO (24 KM)
Leaving behind Pietralunga, you will cycle on roads immersed in the green of the Umbrian nature, almost completely free of traffic. Individual arrival in Spoleto. The historic centre is full of artistic and cultural beauties. The day will be spent entirely on bicycles. Depart in the morning from Passignano sul Trasimeno towards Castiglione del Lago. The route follows the lake on an unpaved road, transforming into a pleasant cycling and walking path on gravel and compacted earth, with numerous pedestrian bridges and picnic areas. The scenery of the reed beds and the ease with which you can spot wildlife in this part of the protected area of Lake Trasimeno, merit numerous stops that allow you to take in the views of the lake.
Lunch on your own
A brief stop will be made at the Campo del Sole and the shores of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, the site of the “Battle of Trasimeno” which took place on June 24, 217 BC, where Hannibal’s Carthaginian army defeated the Roman army.

In the morning, a mini-cruise will take you to Isola Maggiore, one of the three islands of the lake, and the only one inhabited. It hosted St. Francis during an entire Lent. Arrival in Spoleto in the early afternoon for a free walk to discover the city with a glorious past. Children will be fascinated by the new mechanized escalator route which from the very convenient Ponzianino car park leads up to the Rocca Albornoziana and the Ponte delle Torri.

SECOND DAY
After breakfast, when the weather is good the day will be totally dedicated to an active outdoor experience. For example, a section of the route of the Vecchia Ferrovia Spoleto – Norcia can be done by bike. The railway was inaugurated in 1926 and, for the time, represented a real engineering masterpiece in just over 50 kilometres, including helical tunnels and the daring bridge over the Cortaccione stream. The railway was closed in 1968 and, after many years of inactivity, in July 2014 the current cycle/pedestrian path was inaugurated on the route of the old railway, which can now be traveled up to Piedipaterno.
